Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Coaching With You Work?
Coaching is fundamentally a relationship.
I use a myriad of tools and techniques with my clients, but ultimately it is a relationship whereby you have a safe space to explore conscious and unconscious belief systems, restrictive ideas, blind spots and assumptions.
We use our time together to dig a little deeper into the thoughts, views and beliefs you hold about yourself and others, and we use them to uncover the patterns and behaviours which are sabotaging your career, relationships and general contentment.
We might also use our time together to consider your understanding of success, your blockers and what decisions sit ahead of you to achieve it. We explore what those decisions ACTUALLY are and what the fall out would be, without the risk of causing irreparable damage to your career, relationships and lifestyle.
If after all that, you still want to make changes, then we look at how to do that, too.
Who Is It For?
Coaching is for absolutely anyone*.
However, for it to work, you have to be ‘coachable’, which means that you need to be open to exploring and confronting your views and beliefs, even when it feels uncomfortable and counterintuitive.
Like anything, the more you put in, the more you get out.
I will ask you questions and set you tasks to unlock new ideas and ways of thinking, but I cannot provide you with the answers. You have to be prepared to work for yourself.
* A Caveat: Coaching is not a form of therapy and is not appropriate support for serious mental illness, addiction, etc. Though it can work nicely in tangent with therapies such as counselling (it certainly helped my anxiety tremendously!) , it is not a substitute for formal mental health support.
Is Coaching Uncomfortable?
It can be, yes.
Let’s be honest here - we will be pushing some long-held buttons and touching some deeply-rooted bruises. Tears are common.
But I will never push you to go further than you want to go, nor will I encourage you to go there before you feel safe, held and happy to be ugly with me.
What If You Don’t Like Me?
Ah, this is a wonderful example of your mind predicting the worst for you.
What I think and feel is completely immaterial - all that matters is what you think and feel.
But, if that answer feels too vague, remember that we would not work together until we had our consultation call, at which point we figure out if we are a good fit.
If it doesn’t feel right for you, then we wouldn’t go ahead.
How Much Does It Cost?
Prices are available on my website - follow the menu for the drop down tab.
If you’re looking for something a bit different or a corporate package, book a call in with me and we can review what you’re looking for and how we might price it up fairly.
It Seems Expensive, Should I Go On Holiday With My Money Instead?
Good question!
Perhaps you should if you that is what feels right!
I suppose the question you need to ask yourself is what is the value you would place on solving what brought you here in the first place?
A holiday is wonderful and the memories are lifelong (I’m pro you spoiling yourself!) but I would remind you that the peace it brings lasts a week - a fortnight at most - and therefore is not really a fair comparable.
I will say this - it is important when entering into a coaching programme (with me, or anyone else) that you feel a little uncomfortable. Being a little uncomfortable encourages accountability and commitment. However, only you know what that number is for you.
How Do I Book the £150 Taster?
If you would rather experience coaching with me before committing to a programme, I offer a 1hour Taster Session for £150.
If you would like to book this without booking a consultation call, make your way to the Free Consultation Call tab in the menu. You will find a form which you can complete.
Fill in the form and let me know you would like to book a Taster Session and I will email you a link directly to my digital calendar where you can pay for the session and book a time that suits you directly.
Ok, I’m Interested What Next?
Excellent stuff! Make your way over to the Free Consultation tab in the menu above and book yourself a Free Consultation Call.
We can get to know each other, understand what you’re looking for and if I am the right person for you.
If we’re both happy to continue, we would set up payment for the package that suited you, I would send you a contract and once those are complete, we would book you in.
Will You Trick Me Into Working With You On The Consultation Call?
Absolutely not. I will not push you to make a decision on the call. Nor will I pretend you have an hour to make a decision and prices will go up.
It’s important that you make an empowered decision to change your life. My bullying you into it is not conducive with results - and both of us want you to have those.
How Do I Pay?
Once we have decided to go ahead, I will provide you with my details to transfer the cost.
Credit card and monthly payment facilities are available if you prefer, though these attract a small additional charge. If you prefer either of these options, I would arrange for you to receive an online invoice for easy payment.
Please note that payment is always in advance of sessions and non-refundable.
When Do We Meet Up?
We would find a time and date that suited us both to start. We would then look to meet once a fortnight from that point (or monthly, if on the 12 month programme).
If however, this does not suit you, we can be flexible and arrange each next session at the end of the last.
However, please note that as my clients tend to have regularly slots, it may be difficult to book in ad-hoc. I therefore thoroughly recommend agreeing and maintaining a regular session time wherever possible.
How Comes You Do 90min When Most Coaches Give An Hour?
Another excellent question.
I personally find that my clients tend to really find their stride around minute 40 of our session, and the last thing I want to do is shut you down mid-flow.
In my experience, 90mins is the perfect amount of time for you to get your money’s worth and for me to get your inner-most workings to the surface.
What Qualifications / Experience Do You Have?
I have a full list of my career experience on my LinkedIn page which you are welcome to review (link in the footer), however in terms of coaching, my most notable certificates include a diploma in Transformational Life Coaching from Animas School of Coaching, and I was on Launch 18 of HPC’s High Performance Coaching Programme.
Prior to coaching, I was a Chartered Surveyor and practiced as an Asset Manager specialising in Commercial Property. I held an MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
As an aside to my coaching practice, I am an active ambassador for LionHeart, the independent charity for RICS professionals, past and present, and their families.
I also work in a consultancy capacity as a coach and mentor to AssocRICS students - supporting them through their studies and journeys into property and real estate.
What If I Want To Go On Holiday Half Way Through?
No problem. We can move and alter sessions between us with 48 hours notice.
There’s no need to put off what you want to start now because you have plans in two months’ time.
I Have Questions Not On These FAQs?
No problem at all! Book yourself onto a complimentary consultation call, or drop me an email and I will endeavour to answer any queries you have.
